I was introduced to photography as a child by my mother who still inspires me today. She loved to paint from photographs, mostly her own, but as I progressed, she began painting some of my photographs. It was always an honor knowing one of my pictures inspired her enough to paint it. Nothing was more exciting than creating an image that “my mom would like to paint”. I still feel that excitement today, and although she is no longer with us, I continue to connect with her through my photography.

My art is not about a particular style or type, it’s about creating a sense of place and how it makes you feel. I enjoy shooting a variety of subjects and I am inspired by light and shadows, color, line, shape, pattern, and texture. I look for unique perspectives to highlight these features and present my vision in a creative and interesting way. If my photograph evokes mood or emotion in the viewer, it’s a success.

The sample images below are landscape photographs from some of my favorite adventures. You can see more of my work and upcoming exhibits at: https://jeffnewmanphotography.weebly.com. I can be contacted there or by email at [email protected].
