Urban landscapes and portraits are two recurring themes in my work. When I began my career working for a newspaper, I quickly discovered there are always stories that can be found on the streets; whether it’s capturing the profusion of clunky old American cars in Havana or a homeless musician in Ann Arbor. Portraits are a major element of cityscapes and I believe a face does not have to be apparent in every depiction. My images are digital files that are printed as captured, or manipulated and painted digitally. In addition, I often print with fine art papers which are enhanced with a mixture of traditional art media including watercolor, colored pencil, pastel and wax.
